Mohan Bikram Karki-Led Hydropower Group Donates Rs. 16.5 Million to PM’s Disaster Relief Fund

Kathmandu: Hydropower entrepreneur Mohan Bikram Karki and hydropower projects and companies promoted under his leadership have contributed a total of Rs. 16.5 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The Karki-led group is the largest contributor among private-sector hydropower entrepreneurs.

The amount collected from hydropower projects and companies promoted under Karki’s leadership, along with his personal contribution, has been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. The contribution details include donations from Karki himself and eight hydropower companies.

Karki personally contributed Rs. 2.5 million. Similarly, Kalika Energy Limited, Electro Power Company Limited, Surya Holding Limited, and Hydro Village Limited each contributed Rs. 2.5 million.

Likewise, Ashutosh Energy Limited, Hilton Hydro Energy Limited, Snow Rivers Limited, and Kabeli Hydropower Company Limited each contributed Rs. 1 million.

Thus, according to the details, a total of Rs. 16.5 million has been deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund by Karki and the companies under his leadership.

Four Companies Contribute Rs. 2.5 Million Each

The largest share of the contribution came from four companies. Kalika Energy, Electro Power Company, Surya Holding, and Hydro Village each contributed Rs. 2.5 million.

Similarly, four companies contributed Rs. 1 million each. Karki also personally contributed Rs. 2.5 million.

A cheque for Rs. 16.5 million was also issued in the name of the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, with the cheque bearing the name of Mohan Bikram Karki (MBK Group) along with the names of the companies mentioned above.

At a time when hydropower projects and local communities have been affected by floods, landslides, and other natural disasters, businesses and companies involved in the energy sector have been providing financial assistance for relief efforts.

The contribution made under Karki’s leadership is also seen as a significant contribution from the private sector toward the state’s relief and rescue efforts for disaster-affected people.
