Himalayan Hydro Expo 2024: Nepal Gears Up for Fourth Edition to Showcase Hydropower Innovation and Investment Opportunities

Independent Power Producers Association, Nepal (IPPAN) is going to organize the fourth edition of Himalayan Hydro Expo in the coming month of Baisakh(April). Hydro Expo, which is being organized by IPPAN every two years, is going to be held on the 12th, 13th and 14th of Baisakh (24th ,25th and 26th April 2024).

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between IPPAN and the Expo and Event Management Company for the Expo project.

The government has prepared an energy development roadmap with a target of producing 28,500 MW of electricity in 12 years and plans to export 10,000 MW of electricity in India and 5,000 MW in Bangladesh and 13,500 MW of electricity internally.

An agreement has been reached between Nepal and India that Nepal will export 10,000 megawatts of electricity to India in 10 years. In such a situation, the expo is going to be organized with the aim of attracting domestic and foreign investment in the hydropower sector, said Ganesh Karki, president of IPPAAN.

According to Karki, the aim of the expo organized by IPPAN, the only organization of investors in the energy sector in Nepal, is to create an investment environment by inviting foreign investors who will participate in the investment conference organized by the government to participate in the expo.

In the expo, there will be an exhibition of machinery tools used in the construction of hydropower projects, banks and financial institutions, insurance companies, cement, rods and other materials. Along with this, seminars and discussions on hydropower, solar, hydrogen and other topics will also be organized.

In the expo, demos will be presented to give information about various power projects in addition to competition between innovative ideas in the energy sector. It is expected that the expo will have more than 200 stalls and a turnover of more than 25 billion rupees
