Geppert Group Strengthens Commitment to Nepal’s Sustainable Hydropower Future

Kathmandu — On the occasion of the financial closure ceremony of the Middle Chamelia Hydroelectric Project, Guntram Geppert, CEO and owner of Austria-based Geppert Group, reiterated his group’s commitment to promoting clean and sustainable energy in Nepal.

The event, organized by Darchula Power Limited, was attended by Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, representatives of investment institutions, and hydropower developers.

Speaking at the event, Guntram Geppert said, “We are committed to building strong partnerships, contributing to local development, and promoting clean energy in Nepal. We will move forward together on our journey to empower everyone.”

Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in selecting the Geppert Group for the electro-mechanical works of the 28.3 MW Middle Chamelia project, Geppert recalled the successfully completed 40 MW Upper Chamelia and 9.7 MW Ingwa Khola projects.

He said, “Although some of our group companies faced financial challenges in 2023, we succeeded in revitalizing our mission in Nepal. We are grateful for the continued support of the Nepali hydropower sector during this journey.”

Amarjeet Singh Makhija, Director of Geppert Hydro India Pvt. Ltd., shared that projects with a total capacity of 144 MW have been completed in Nepal so far, with another 76 MW currently under construction. He stated that the recently completed 6 MW Super Hewa Project and the 4.72 MW Upper Piluwa-II Project have contributed to advancing Nepal’s green energy goals.

Makhija further added that the Chukeni Khola Project in Jumla (998 kilowatts), developed by AEPC and funded by ADB, stands as evidence of Geppert’s commitment to providing sustainable energy access to remote areas.

Rajkishor Yadav, Country Director for Geppert in Nepal, stated that since 2022, Geppert’s local office in Panipokhari, Kathmandu, has been providing engineering services, maintenance, spare parts, and long-term technical support.
