Middle Marsyangdi DamLAMJUNG: The Marsyangdi river has witnessed floods as glaciers and snow in the mountains melted rapidly with the soaring mercury levels.

Currently, the swollen river has reminded the locals of floods during the peak of monsoon in July and August.

Owing to the excessive water level, said Mid-Marsyangdi Hydropower Project’s chief Chandra Shekhar Chaudhary, the flood gates of Project’s dam could be opened any time.

Issuing a notice, the project has already alerted the locals not to go to the riverside as the flood gates can be opened any time.

The project, which has a capacity to generate 70 MW electricity, said it is currently generating 75 MW electricity owing to the excessive water level in the river.
