Myagdi, July 15: The 6 MW Relekhola Hydropower Project, located at Narachyang in Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 of Myagdi, has been forced to shut down after floodwaters damaged its infrastructure.

According to the project, power generation has remained completely suspended since July 12, after flooding entered the project’s intake area and damaged key structures.

Project Chief Darshanik Kafle said that a landslide triggered by the flood has also blocked the access road leading to the intake, making it difficult to inspect the damage and carry out repair work.

He said the flood caused significant damage to the intake structure, while the suspension of electricity generation has resulted in financial losses for the project.

The Relekhola Hydropower Project, which was completed last year, supplies electricity to Nepal’s national grid through the Dana Substation. The project is currently assessing the extent of the damage and preparing for repair works before resuming operations.
