KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Dr. Jagadishwor Karmacharya as secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation. A Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday promoted Karmacharya, a senior joint secretary from the Nepal Engineering Service, to the gazetted special class position of secretary.
Karmacharya had previously been serving as acting secretary at the ministry. Following his promotion to secretary, he has been assigned as the secretary of the same ministry.
The decision to appoint Karmacharya comes after former Energy Secretary Sarita Dawadi was transferred to the Office of the Nepal Trust.
As secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Karmacharya will provide administrative leadership for the implementation of policies, plans and programs in the energy, water resources and irrigation sectors under the ministry.
