Construction of Daramkhola hydroelectricity project begins

    BAGLUNG: Construction of the Daramkhola ‘A’ hydropower project here has begun. The project is going to be constructed with the investment by the non-resident Nepalis.

    The contract of constructing the hydropower project with a capacity of generating 2500 kilowatt of electricity has been awarded to the Sayapatri Hydropower Pvt Ltd.

    Construction of physical infrastructures of the project is underway, said project chief Engineer Bikash Shrestha. Rs. 460 million has been allocated for the construction of the project which is expected to be completed within the next two years.

    The Nepali technology and human resources will be mobilized for the construction, the company said. Electricity to be generated from the project will be connected to the central transmission line. Baglung would get rid of power outage with the completion of the project.

    Description of the Project: Daram Khola Hydropower Project in Hila and Argal VDC of Baglung district.   This is a run-off-river scheme, with the design discharge 3.6 m3/s and 91.34m gross head that will generate 2.5 Mw of electric energy. The project consists of headworks with a weir across the river to divert flow, headrace with penstock pipe as a water conveyance system, and surface powerhouse on the left bank of Daram Khola.

    The project site is located about 35km i.e. (20km gravel and 15km earthen road to be upgraded) from Baglung bazaar to Ghusmeli village. The weir site of Project is located in Hila and Argal VDC and powerhouse is located in Argal VDC.
