Kathmandu: As the expansion of solar energy generation continues in Madhesh Province, a new 20 MW solar project has been proposed in Mahottari district. Terra Sol Energy Company Limited has applied to the Department of Electricity Development for a generation license to develop the “Dhalkebar Solar Power Project” in Bardibas Municipality-6 of Mahottari.

The company has formally initiated the necessary procedures for the project’s construction. Under the project, solar photovoltaic panels will be installed across approximately 18.24 hectares of land.

According to the company, the electricity generated by the project will be converted into an AC system through 55 string inverters of 350 kW capacity and three string inverters of 250 kW capacity.

The project is estimated to generate an average of 40.249 GWh of electricity annually. The generated power will be connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Dhalkebar Substation through a 33 kV transmission line and supplied to the national grid.

The company has set a target to complete the project by November/December 2026. The project’s Initial Environmental Examination (IEE) report was approved by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation on 15 April 2026.

In recent years, the Dhalkebar area has been emerging as a new hub for solar energy development. Due to strong transmission access, flat terrain, and easy connectivity to the national grid, private sector investment in solar energy has been rapidly increasing in Madhesh Province.
