The government is set to make political appointment for the post of managing director (MD) of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The door for direct appointment has been opened after the Finance Ministry has removed NEA from the Public Enterprise Coordination Board. The government is preparing to appoint MD through a new process after promoting MD of NEA Arjun Karki to regional administrator by handing over the responsibility of officiating secretary.
The Energy Ministry has made Deputy MD Upendra Dev Bhatta acting MD on the basis of seniority. Minister Gyawali said the process for appointing new MD has started. “A qualified and experienced individual will soon arrive in NEA,” she stated.
