National Oil Company Raises Petrol Price by Rs 4/Liter: Impact and Implications

KATHMANDU, April 1: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced an increase in the price of petrol. The price of petrol has been increased by Rs 4 per liter with effect from Sunday midnight.

As a result of the adjustment, the price of petrol will stand at Rs 175 per liter in Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and Dipalaya. Similarly, it will be Rs 174 in Surkhet and Dang, and Rs 172.50 per liter in Charaali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, and Birgunj areas.

The NOC explained that based on the new purchase price provided by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), petrol has seen an increase of Rs 4.76 per liter, while diesel and kerosene have witnessed a decrease of 39 paise per liter.

Furthermore, the price of LP gas has been reduced by Rs 27.44 per cylinder. However, the board of directors has opted to keep the price unchanged, citing a loss of Rs 296.15 in LP gas.
