Myagdi: Electricity from the central transmission line has reached Duwaree in Raghuganga Rural Municipality–8 of Myagdi. Under the “Ujyalo Myagdi” program implemented by the Nepal Electricity Authority, the distribution line was extended and a transformer was energized in Duwaree, which is geographically remote and difficult to access.

Under the Ujyalo Myagdi program, the installation of poles for main and branch lines, the stringing of 11 kV capacity conductors, and the installation of a 50 kVA transformer in Duwaree, Dhand, and Patlekharka have been completed, according to Satyanarayan Gami, Chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Beni Distribution Center. He said that testing of the transmission line and charging of the transformer have already been completed. Once meter boxes are installed and household wiring is finished, electricity from the central grid will be supplied on a regular basis.

There are about 90 households living in Duwari, Dhand and Patlekhark. According to Ward Chairman Gaman Chhantyal, until now, the residents here have been using electricity generated from the small hydropower project. It is expected that the daily life of the locals will be easier after the central line is reached.

The Nepal Electricity Authority has been implementing a project worth NPR 220 million since fiscal year 2080/81 to extend national grid electricity to 2,183 households across 14 locations in Myagdi. Under this project, electrification has already been completed for around 600 households in Malika Rural Municipality–1 Niskot, 2 Rum, 3 Dadagaun, Patle, and Ward No. 4 Okharbot; about 100 households in Chyuribot; 150 households in Malampar of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality; and 45 households in Bulka.

Similarly, in Lulang, which has 370 households, the transformer was energized last Jestha, while in Malkawang, home to 150 households, and Mahabhir, also with 150 households, the transformer was energized last Mangsir.

Resham Bahadur Jugjali (Subin), a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly elected from Myagdi Constituency No. 1 (B), said that through this contract, central electricity service will reach all settlements of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality except Gurja in Ward No. 1. He also informed that construction contractors have been instructed to immediately begin electricity expansion works in Khiwang, Chechung, Naura, Bagar, Simkosh, and Nerwang of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality–4.
