Kathmandu: MCA–Nepal has conducted a capacity-building training on the prevention of human trafficking and sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), as well as violence against women and children, for representatives of the construction company associated with the Ratmate Substation Project to be built in Nuwakot district.
The two-day training, held on Falgun 4 and 5 (corresponding to February 16 and 17 in the Gregorian calendar), was specifically organized for representatives of Techno Electric & Engineering Company, the firm selected for the construction of the Ratmate Substation.
According to MCA–Nepal, the objective of the training was to ensure a safe, respectful, and accountable working environment for both employees involved in substation construction and the local community. The sessions focused on clarifying the role of employees in minimizing the risks of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, abuse, and violence against women and children during the construction phase.
Participants were provided with information on maintaining workplace safety, identifying and preventing potential incidents of abuse and violence, and the procedures for filing complaints through available reporting mechanisms.
A total of 28 participants attended the two-day training. MCA–Nepal stated that it will continue to prioritize social safeguards alongside infrastructure development by conducting similar awareness and capacity-building programs in the future.
