Energy Minister Directs Faster Expansion of Transmission Infrastructure

Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has said that the situation in which generated electricity goes to waste due to a lack of transmission lines must come to an end.

While inspecting the central office of Rastriya Prasaran Grid Company Limited today, Minister Shrestha clarified that the government has placed high priority on expanding transmission infrastructure alongside energy generation.

“The situation where generated electricity is wasted due to the lack of transmission lines must end. The government stands with you, so work in a result-oriented manner,” Minister Shrestha said.

He instructed the company to prepare a clear action plan and achieve its targets on time, while also expressing commitment that there would be no shortage of necessary budget and skilled manpower for transmission line expansion.

Minister Shrestha also urged employees to work with high morale and assured that the government would provide all necessary support.

On the occasion, Chief Executive Officer Sagar Shrestha stated that the company has been actively working to expand transmission infrastructure for Nepal’s hydropower development and energy security.

The program was attended by Energy Ministry Secretary Chiranjibi Chataut, Administration Division Chief Rudra Singh Tamang, among others.
