Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) seeks bids for turbine parts and repair, a trash rake and a powerhouse auxiliary system for the 144-MW Kali Gandaki A hydroelectric project on the Kali Gandaki River in western Nepal. A pre-bid conference is set March 11, with bids for three packages due April 2, 3 and 4.
The World Bank approved US$89.2 million to support Nepal’s Energy Crisis Management Action Plan, including rehabilitation of Kali Gandaki A and expansion of small hydropower plants. NEA recruited consultants in November to design and supervise rehabilitation of Kali Gandaki A. It called for consultants in 2009 to assist in procurement for the project rehabilitation.
Nepal’s King Gyanendra inaugurated Kali Gandaki A in 2004 in Syangja District, about 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu. Requiring three years, rehabilitation of Kali Gandaki A is to involve dam safety, civil and electro-mechanical works, and automation and controls.
NEA now seeks bids by April 2 for Contract KGAHPPRP/G/ICB-3, supply and delivery of turbine spare parts and repair. Bid documents may be obtained from the address below for 30,000 rupees or US$315.
Bids are due April 3 for Contract KGAHPPRP/G/ICB-4, supply, delivery and installation of a trash rack cleaning machine. Bid documents may be obtained from the address below for 15,000 rupees or US$155.
NEA also seeks bids by April 4 for Contract KGAHPPRP/G/ICB-5, supply and delivery of powerhouse auxiliary system, including air compressor; drainage, dewatering and cooling system spare parts; governor-related equipment and spare parts; heating-ventilation-air conditioning system spare parts; synchronizing vacuum circuit breaker; MMI screen for control and protection system; spare parts for ST-4000 HVOF coating machine; and additional spare parts. Bid documents may be obtained from the address below for 20,000 rupees or US$210.
Payment for bidding documents is to be deposited in the NEA, Generation Account No. 610162 at Nepal Rastra Bank, Thapathali, Kathmandu, or in the form of a bank draft drawn in favor of “Kalagandaki A Hydropower Plant Rehabilitation Project (KGAHPPRP).” Foreign bidders requesting delivery of documents by courier should submit an additional fee of US$300 for each bid package in the form of an additional bank draft.
