Kathmandu: The 124 MW Jagdulla ‘A’ Hydropower Project has signed a Grid Connection Agreement (GCA) with the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA). The agreement, signed on August 3, between Jagdulla Hydro Power Company Limited and the NEA, marks a significant milestone in the process of connecting the electricity generated by the project to Nepal’s national transmission system.
A Grid Connection Agreement is considered a key prerequisite for integrating a power project into the national transmission network. It enables the technical and institutional procedures required to transmit electricity and connect the project to the national power grid. According to the company, this achievement further reinforces its commitment to completing the project on schedule and contributing to Nepal’s national energy security.
The project is being developed as a semi-cascade extension of the 106 MW Jagdulla Hydropower Project. It will reuse water discharged from the upstream project’s tailrace tunnel to generate electricity, eliminating the need to construct new headworks.
The project’s detailed feasibility study has already been completed. The proposed hydropower project will be located in Mudkechula Rural Municipality of Dolpa District and Nalgad Municipality of Jajarkot District. Wards 1, 2, 3, and 4 of Mudkechula Rural Municipality, along with Ward 13 of Nalgad Municipality, are the primary project-affected areas.
