Bhojpur: The expansion of the national electricity grid to remote settlements in Ward No. 6 of Temke maiyung Rural Municipality in Bhojpur has made daily life easier for local residents. After years of waiting for electricity services, households in the area now have access to power, improving education, communication and household activities.
With the expansion of electricity services, residents can now enjoy facilities such as the internet and television. Previously cut off from information and communication technology due to the lack of electricity, people in these settlements are now becoming connected to the outside world.
According to local resident Bal Bahadur Rai, access to electricity has made it easier for children to study, for households to carry out daily activities and for small industries to operate. In the past, the lack of electricity created difficulties ranging from children’s education to milling and grinding locally produced crops.
Ward Chairperson Surya Prasad Nepal said that prioritising electricity expansion had enabled the ward to achieve tangible results even with a limited budget. Although extending electricity to every settlement in the ward, which covers a large geographical area, remains challenging, work has been carried out based on priorities, he said.
Following the expansion of electricity services, residents have started using electric mills for milling and grinding grains. This has reduced the time and physical labour required for these tasks. The ward said that improved access to electricity has also made it easier to operate small-scale household industries, including furniture businesses, supporting local production and income-generating activities.
The expansion of the national electricity grid into rural settlements has not only transformed local lifestyles but also opened up new opportunities in education, information and communication technology, and entrepreneurship.
