The three parties held a joint meeting at Prime Minister Sushil Koirala’s residence at Baluwatar, Kathmandu, immediately after a meeting of the Council of Ministers on Friday morning.
The parties’ meeting decided to raise issues that benefit both the countries. The parties further welcomed the proposed high-level visit from India after a long time.
It may be noted that the Indian Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Sworaj is arriving in Kathmandu Friday evening as a preparation for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in early August.
In today’s meeting, the parties further decided to make maximum efforts to turn the visit of the two high-level Indian dignitaries fruitful for Nepal.
“The Nepali government will discuss construction of large-scale projects, border security and dispute, postal highway, mid-hill highway and energy development, among other issues, with the Indian side,” NC leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula informed journalists after the meeting.
“While sitting for talks with the Indian side, we have suggested the government to postpone those issues which have not undergone adequate homework,” UCPN (M) leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha said.
Prime Minister Koirala called today’s meeting to form a common understanding among political parties about the visits of Indian Foreign Minister Sworaj and Prime Minister Modi.
