Tanahun: The Tanahun Hydropower Project has distributed agricultural materials along with training to economically empower farmers in affected areas.
The project provided off-season vegetable farming and financial literacy training to 20 farmers from the Magar community, targeting members of the Masto Lafa Bheja Women’s Group in Paltyang, Rishing Rural Municipality–8.
According to Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari, participating farmers were provided with hand tractors, seeds, sprayers, and equipment required for tunnel farming.
Residents of the project-affected area had previously also received training in plumbing, electrical work, sewing and weaving, goat farming, vegetable farming, and financial literacy. So far, 339 men and 279 women have taken part in such training programs.
The project stated that the main objective of the training program is to improve livelihoods and promote long-term self-reliance among the affected communities.
