Tanahun Hydropower Project Builds School Building Under CSR Programme

Tanahun: The construction of a well-equipped building for Deepak Secondary School, located in Rishingpatan of Bhimad Municipality–5, Tanahun, has been completed with support from the Tanahun Hydropower Project.

The foundation stone for the school building, constructed under the project’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) development programme, was laid on September 26, 2023. The project said the building was constructed in accordance with the government’s prevailing standards, model design and technical specifications for school buildings.

According to Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari, the building was completed at a cost of Rs 9.457 million. The contract for its construction was awarded to Nibas Engineering Consultancy, based in Syangja.

Bhandari said the newly constructed building will help create a safe, disaster-resilient and quality learning environment for students. According to him, students from communities affected by the project will now have access to more व्यवस्थित and quality educational infrastructure.

He said the new building is expected not only to create a conducive learning environment but also to contribute to social infrastructure development and the long-term educational and socioeconomic development of surrounding communities.

School Principal Uttam Khanal said the new building will make it easier for students to study.

The Tanahun Hydropower Project has been providing support in various sectors under its CSR programme in areas affected by the project. According to Project Chief Bhandari, 98 projects have so far been completed under the CSR programme, while six projects are currently underway.

The projects currently under construction include the Fedikhola motorable bridge in Bhimad Municipality–5, the Dadiban–Chulesi access road in Rishing Rural Municipality–7, a concrete bridge over Wantang Khola and a senior citizens’ community building in Bhimad Municipality–5, and the Deepak Secondary School building in Rishing Rural Municipality–1.
