Tanahun: The construction process for a truss bridge has moved forward at Fedikhola in Bhimad Municipality–5 with the support of the Tanahun Hydropower Project. The bridge is being constructed at Fedikhola, which lies within the project’s inundation area, to ensure safe and convenient movement for the general public.
A contract agreement was signed with Jalap Nepal Pvt. Ltd., based in Chitwan, on December 10 2025, for the construction of the bridge. Tanahun Hydropower Project Chief Shyamji Bhandari said the bridge is targeted for completion within 24 months in accordance with the agreement.
According to him, a 55-meter-long truss bridge is being constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 81 million. It is expected that completion of the bridge will resolve the problems faced by local residents and the general public while crossing Fedikhola during the monsoon season.
At present, the lack of a bridge has affected movement depending on the water flow in the river and weather conditions. During the monsoon in particular, local residents have been forced to cross the river at risk. Project Chief Bhandari said the bridge will make daily travel easier for local residents as well as students, farmers and businesspeople.
The bridge under construction will connect settlements including Bhimad Bazar, Rishingpatan, Jalbire, Wangtangitar, Ladan, Aamdanda and Tutuwal to the road network. Likewise, residents of settlements such as Purano Rishing and Paltyang in Rishing Rural Municipality–7 and 8 will also directly benefit from the bridge.
The bridge is expected to further facilitate transportation connectivity between Bhimad Municipality and Rishing Rural Municipality. It will not only ease movement between local settlements but also help transport agricultural produce and other local products to markets.
The project office said the bridge will also contribute to expanding local residents’ access to education, healthcare, trade and business opportunities.
During the construction of the Tanahun Hydropower Project, priority has been given to building various structures in areas affected by inundation, taking into account local needs and infrastructure development. The project said the truss bridge being constructed at Fedikhola is also being advanced with the objective of facilitating the movement of local residents.
Once completed, the bridge is expected to provide a long-term solution to the transportation problems caused by Fedikhola during the monsoon and further strengthen road connectivity among various settlements in the Bhimad and Rishing areas.
