Uninterrupted Power Supply Ensured Nationwide During Laxmi Puja

Kathmandu — Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Kul Man Ghising, visited the control room of the Nepal Electricity Authority’s load dispatch center in Syuchatar on Monday evening to review the management of electricity demand and supply on the day of Laxmi Puja.

A team comprising Secretary of the Ministry of Energy Chiranjivi Chataut, Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission Ram Prasad Dhital, Joint Secretaries of the Ministry, Director General of the Department of Electricity Development, Managing Director of the NEA Manoj Silwal, Deputy Managing Director and others gathered information about the electricity and supply situation.

As in previous years, the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) successfully ensured an uninterrupted power supply across the country on the day of Laxmi Puja this year as well. To prevent any power outages on the occasion, the Authority had kept the heads of distribution centers and technical staff at power stations across the country on standby.

In September 2016, after Kul Man Ghising was appointed as the Managing Director, his team managed the electricity demand and supply and began the trial phase of ending load-shedding in the Kathmandu Valley starting from the day of Laxmi Puja that same year.
