NEA Issues Alert, Orders Rapid Restoration of Power Services During Monsoon Disruptions

Kathmandu: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has directed all its distribution centers and offices to restore electricity services as quickly as possible in areas affected by natural disasters.

In a circular issued by NEA Deputy Executive Director Deepak Kumar Singh, offices have been instructed to take necessary precautions in view of the weather warning issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

According to the circular, electricity services could be disrupted due to the high risk of heavy rainfall, floods, landslides, inundation, and lightning in various parts of the country from June 29 to July 1. In such situations, the concerned offices have been instructed to immediately carry out repairs and resume electricity supply in any area experiencing outages.

The circular also states that necessary manpower, vehicles, equipment, and materials should be kept on standby to minimize potential damage to the distribution system. Emergency response teams are to remain on 24-hour alert, and information from affected areas should be regularly reported to the concerned authorities.

The NEA has urged all offices to exercise special vigilance to ensure the safety of employees during disasters and to restore electricity services swiftly, safely, and effectively.
