NEA Completes Kohalpur–Surkhet Transmission Line, Testing Begins January 30

Kathmandu: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has completed the construction of the Kohalpur–Surkhet 132 kV transmission line. The Kohalpur–Surkhet section of the Kohalpur–Surkhet–Dailekh 132 kV transmission line project—being built with joint investment from the Government of Nepal and the Nepal Electricity Authority—has now been completed.

According to NEA spokesperson Rajan Dhakal, the completed transmission line will be integrated into the national power system immediately. For this purpose, electricity will be transmitted via a 132 kV double-circuit transmission line from the Kohalpur Substation in Banke to the Subbakuna Substation in Surkhet district, with testing scheduled to begin from January 30.

Spokesperson Dhakal stated that the transmission line will be brought into regular operation after testing, and urged the general public to exercise special caution during the testing period. He requested that people not climb the transmission towers, not touch any objects, not go near the towers, prevent livestock and children from approaching the towers, and avoid touching electrical structures marked with danger signs.

Similarly, during testing, if sparks are observed at any location or if any other hazardous situation arises, the public has been urged to immediately inform the Nepal Electricity Authority or the nearest police office.
