Energy Minister Ghising Departs for New Delhi to Join the Eighth ISA Assembly

Kathmandu, 27 October 2025 — Kulman Ghising, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation; Physical Infrastructure and Transport; and Urban Development, left for New Delhi, India, on Monday afternoon to participate in the eighth Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA).

The Assembly, which will be attended by ministers from more than 40 countries, is being held in New Delhi from 27–30 October 2025.

Minister Ghising is scheduled to represent Nepal and deliver an address at the Assembly, where energy ministers and representatives of ISA member countries will hold high-level discussions on the promotion of solar energy, expansion of sustainable energy supply, climate change mitigation initiatives, and opportunities for collaboration.

Nepal is taking part in the event with the aim of expanding the use of solar energy for sustainable energy development and increasing access to clean energy through international cooperation. Minister Ghising will deliver a special address during the thematic session titled “Envisioning Regional and Global Interconnections for Large-Scale Clean Energy Transition.”

The Paris Declaration establishing the ISA was adopted in November 2015 with the goal of jointly addressing the global challenge of scaling up solar energy to meet member countries’ needs.

The ISA was established to mobilize over USD 1 trillion in investments needed to achieve widespread adoption of solar energy by 2030 and to pave the way for future technologies.

Nepal joined the ISA as its 101st member state in Bhadra 2024, following the House of Representatives’ approval of the framework agreement on its establishment. Minister Ghising, who is attending the Assembly, is scheduled to return home on Wednesday.
