Investment Mobilization Underway for Seti River–3 Project in Sudurpaschim

Kathmandu: Preparations for financial management have reached an advanced stage for the 87-megawatt Seti River–3 partial reservoir hydropower project, which is planned for construction in Sudurpaschim Province. Chilime Hydropower Company, which is developing the project, is holding discussions with various banks and financial institutions to mobilize investment.

According to the company, Nepal Hydro Electricity has shown interest in arranging the project’s financial management, while efforts are also underway to secure the required resources by coordinating with other financial institutions under a co-financing model. As financial arrangements are close to being finalized, the company expects to reach financial closure soon.

The project’s estimated cost is approximately NPR 19.66 billion, and studies indicate that it will generate an average of 482.5 million units of electricity annually. Since access roads to the project site are already in a preparatory stage, construction work will begin immediately after financial management is completed, the company said.

The generated electricity will be connected to the Kailash Substation in Bajhang through a 12-kilometer-long 132 kV transmission line. The process of collaborating with other companies for the construction of this transmission line has also been initiated.

Having reached the final stage of financial management, the project is considered important for expanding energy infrastructure in Sudurpaschim Province.
