Kathmandu: The government has allocated a budget of Rs 70 billion for the construction of transmission lines and substations currently under development.
While presenting the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27 budget, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle stated that a significant budget has been set aside for the expansion of electricity transmission infrastructure.
According to him, the ongoing construction of transmission lines and substations across the country will be accelerated and completed within the scheduled timeframe.
The government has also set a target to complete the Hetauda–Dhalkebar transmission line within the next fiscal year. This project is considered important for strengthening the national transmission network.
Similarly, the government has stated that inter-country transmission line projects will also be given high priority. This is expected to contribute to expanding electricity exports, promoting regional energy trade, and ensuring supply security.
The budget speech mentions that through the expansion of energy infrastructure, the government aims to make the electricity system reliable, efficient, and internationally competitive.
