Energy Minister Khadka Calls Load-Shedding Claims Baseless, Highlights Rs 17.72 Billion Power Exports

Kathmandu — Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has said that rumors are being spread claiming load-shedding is taking place.

Speaking in the House of Representatives, he said that the rumors being spread about load-shedding are baseless. Responding to lawmakers’ questions during Wednesday’s meeting, Khadka said that, except for a few areas in the country, electricity supply is running smoothly.

He said, “We are moving ahead with urgency for improvements. We have continued production. Therefore, I submit that talk of load-shedding is baseless.”

Khadka said that the government has been giving high priority to electricity expansion and supply, and is moving forward with work at an accelerated pace. He also stated that, at present, electricity worth Rs 17.72 billion is being exported, while electricity worth Rs 12.92 billion is being imported.
