9 MW Khimti-Ghwang Hydropower Project Targeted for Completion by Mid-April 2028

Kathmandu: Wonders Energy Pvt.Ltd. has stated that construction of the 9 MW Khimti-Ghwang Small Hydropower Project is being accelerated with a target to complete the project by mid-April 2028 .

Presenting the latest progress of the project at the company’s annual general meeting, the company expressed confidence that the construction process would gain further momentum, as the Cabinet had already approved the acquisition of required government land and tree-felling permits on April 28, 2026.

According to the company, the estimated cost of the project is around Rs. 1.90 billion. Of this, the process of arranging Rs. 1.25 billion in debt financing from NMB Bank has reached its final stage.

The company said that out of the required Rs. 650 million in equity investment, Rs. 350 million has already been raised. Preparations are underway to collect the remaining Rs. 300 million by mid-October 2026.

Executive Director Prakash Dulal informed shareholders that financial management and project construction activities are being carried out simultaneously.

Meanwhile, the general meeting approved a proposal to increase the company’s paid-up capital to Rs. 1 billion. Under the approved plan, Rs. 700 million will be raised from promoters and equity investors, while the remaining Rs. 300 million will be collected through an Initial Public Offering (IPO).

The meeting also decided to grant the board of directors the necessary authority to proceed with bank loan arrangements and other required financial processes for the project, the company said.
