Kathmandu: Efforts to restore electricity services disrupted by the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa have gained momentum.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the campaign to resume electricity supply in flood-affected areas has been intensified. The ministry stated that restoration work began the day after the flood struck on 26 August, with all available resources and manpower mobilized to bring power services back online as quickly as possible.
As the flood caused extensive damage to electricity infrastructure, the ministry has prioritized electrification efforts by adopting alternative measures where necessary. In this regard, electricity service was restored on Tuesday in Wards 10 and 11 of Bidur Municipality in flood-affected Nuwakot.
The ministry reported that approximately 83 percent of electricity services in Rasuwa and around 95 percent in Nuwakot have already been restored. Technical teams have also been deployed to reconnect the remaining areas.
In locations where immediate restoration of grid electricity is not possible, alternative energy solutions are being provided through the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC). The centre has initiated the distribution of 2-kilowatt solar systems for community shelters and individual solar systems for households based on their needs.
Employees and technical teams from the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), along with staff from AEPC, have been continuously working in the flood-affected areas to restore electricity services.
